This position is located in the Secure Production Facility in the Office of the Operation Manager, Stennis Space Center, Stennis, MS.
The selectee will work Shift 1 and have a tour of duty of 7am to 3:30pm.
This position has responsibility for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing all types of machinery such as printing and binders equipment, and industrial trucks.
U.S. Citizenship is required. Selectees must pass a drug test prior to appointment. Selectees must pass a background check prior to appointment. Relocation expenses are not authorized. Males born after 12/03/59 must be registered for Selective Service Must pass a Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Psych. Eval. & Physical Exam.
Assembles, installs, maintains, and repairs all types of printing, binding, and related machinery and equipment (i.e., printing & bindery, industrial trucks, power house, & air conditioning machinery).
Welds, cuts, brazes, and metal sprays in connection with craft, and the operation, care and use of machine and hand tools.
Makes adjustments to power machines; grease and oil necessary parts of power machines.
Make lathe, milling, shaper and other cutters for particular projects.
Performs bench, machine, and hand tool work in shaping, fitting, and assembling machine parts from metal stock. Performs other duties as assigned
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of a MachinistExamples of experience include experience related to leading and/or supervising others in the performance of these tasks; perform bench, machine, and hand tool work in shaping, fitting, finishing and assembling machine parts from metal stock; assemble, install, maintain and repair a variety of printing, binding and related machinery and equipment (i.e. printing and bindery, industrial trucks, power plant and air conditioning machinery); analyze interrelated dimensions or complex configuration problems and determine effective solutions; troubleshoot on a wide range of machines and determine repair processes in conjunction with appropriate engineering and technical authority; make independent interpretations of drawings and specifications that are lacking in dimensions, tolerances, and types of fits and finishes, and make repairs; and advise and instruct on how to do journeyperson's work.
Duties may require prolonged standing, walking, stooping, bending, and reaching. An extensive amount of hand, wrist, and hand movements is involved. Frequent lifting is required for objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Incumbent is sometimes required to lift and move items weighing in excess of 50 pounds with the assistance of weight handling equipment or other workers.
Duties are performed inside where there is exposure to flying metal chips, abrasive particles, noise, dirt, coolants, lubricants, and abrasive compounds. Safety protection is required in all areas of the plant. Some work assignments can be outdoors in all weather conditions.

Ability to do the work of a Machinist without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN OUT)
Knowledge of printing and bindery equipment.
Skill in using machine tools such as horizontal and vertical shapers, mills, and grinders.
Ability to use shop drawings, blueprints and specifications for repairs.
Knowledge of acetylene and electric welding.
Knowledge of bench operations such as fitting keys, gears, and bearings all types.
